I have been continuing with my self portrait series based around the ‘I am an Ironman’ idea. I am producing a portrait series by photographing myself immediately after key workouts in my training schedule. For the photograph I will be wearing the clothing used for the workout. I am following a strict process for producing the images and one of the goals of the project is to see what results from this. The other day I was reading about and listening to interviews with Philip-Lorca DiCorcia. When talking about his ‘Heads’ series he indicated that by following a strict process he felt that it was ‘great to bring serendipity into the game’. To some extent this is what I am doing with my self portrait series. By deciding in advance when I am going to make a portrait, I have introduced a level of chance into my process. I do not know how I will feel when the portrait is taken…..strong/weak, elated/deflated/ etc.
I have now completed my first group of photographs over the period 25th February-18th March 2012. I will repeat the exercise over a similar period during April/May and June/July… Frankly I have no idea how this might turn out and this is one of the reasons why I plan to continue, even if I do not eventually use the work for my Advanced studies.
Here is the first series.

That’s certainly a punishing workout schedule. The second on the right, top row, seemed to have the most of the kind of air that I would expect an exhausted sportsman to have (well, at least it looks like my husband looks when he comes back from a bike ride!). Is the camera just by the door when you come in then?

No but close the camera is set up in our conservatory which is a few paces from the door.

This is my fourth attempt at commenting on your blog in recent days – have you chanegd your account settings?
All I was going to say on this one is that I find the differences across these pictures fascinating, especially the after stretching one, where your shoulders and arms are so much more relaxed than in any other picture.
