East End Transformations (after Marville) – Latest Edit

In the background I have been fitting in some more photography of East London and the transformation taking place through redevelopment. My tentative artists statement for this work is set out below:

I now have 14 images that I have reasonably comfortable with although this is not a final edit. I have more work to do around Shoreditch and Whitechapel and the scene is constantly changing so eventually expect to make around 25-30 images. My long term hope is that I will be able to show the work in Spitalfields next year around the time of PhotoMonth (October/November). I have had tentative discussions with a gallery in Spitalfields and am reasonably optimistic.

Following Marville’s approach I have made images of each location from several different perspectives, e.g. opposite ends of the same street. Essentially the sequence follows the path of a walk down Great Eastern Street into Shoreditch, past Shoreditch Station into Spitalfields and back to Bishopsgate where the City of London meets the East London.
