With the Memories exhibition in Oxford fast approaching I thought I would re-post details of my work to be shown. Memories is a OCA level 3 student exhibition being curated by John Umney and Penny Watson. I am showing seven image/text panels from Lifting the Curtain along with an artist’s statement. The statement, which I have revised since my last post is as follows:
The image/text panels are shown below. As in the case of other group exhibitions I have modified the style of presentation to include both image and text on the same panel (rather than as a diptych). This allowed me to conform to the exhibition size requirements, standards on framing and so on. The image text panels are 20 inches square including a small window mount and will be in black wooden frames. The exhibition will be installed on 2nd May and details of the event are currently being finalised, so watch this space.

This is really timely Keith! I’ve just had it agreed that Artscape will print and mount individual statements for each artist in A4 size, they are being incredibly generous. I’m very pleased this work is being included, the diversity of work on show is quite exciting and I’m looking forward to seeing it all on the walls.

Excellent news. There were a couple of small changes I needed to make to the Artist’s statement. I have now inserted a revised version into this post and on my Dropbox site. So you may need to upload the statement again if you have already done so….let me know if you need any help John…

Your artist’s statement—brilliant timing for me! Thank you Keith. Sharon has suggested I rewrite my intro to assignment one—too long, too waffly, too detailed. I looked at other samples—too boring, too academic, too esoteric, too vague etc etc. Yours hits the spot for me as an example I like, can follow—and will adapt! Good luck with the exhibition. Hoping to make it. Greetings from a very wet and soggy SA!
