I have been thinking through how I might complete this series of work. To begin with I saw it as another series of portraits of artists. After shooting two events I am now thinking more in terms of presenting the work as a diary of events for the group of artists with the final output being a book, along with some prints extracted from the book. The book would be divided into chapters each dealing with a particular event, e.g. Mural work at Floyds Barbershop, Folkestone Exhibition with Strange Cargo, Upfest 2012 etc. In each chapter I would a mixture of posed portraits and portraits of the artists at work. The contact sheet below shows how this might look for the Folkestone event.

There’s a real liveliness about the set. I think it’s the way they are posed – as if you’ve just interrupted them for a moment.

Yes I have been working on different ways to capture them. Every time I ask them to pose they either clown around or look really ill at ease. As the work progresses I hope they will get more used to me.
